A rendezvous with the sun

She settled.

After an hour-long struggle to fight her drooping eyelids, she settled comfortably in my arms.

But not the sun.

The thick canopy of the night sky could no longer hold her glory.

It was time.

And she wasn’t going to let her appearance go unannounced.

The dramatic colors began to paint the blank canvas one by one.

The deep purple heralding her royalty; the vivid orange echoing her undying zeal; her loyalty to rise and shine every day reflected by the serene blue.

The warmth of her rays nudged through every crack in the sky until the meek clouds could do nothing but part and allow her to take over.

She rose in all her might and splendor to claim her rightful place.

Satisfied, she peered down gently past the cool of our car’s windshield.

My little sunshine wiggled.

Mommy, the sun’s up and so am I”, she muttered as a soft smile broke on her sun-kissed face.
